Gen-Z is More Likely to Buy in-Store Than Millennials, According to Nielsen Study
Nielsen’s new Total Audience report revealed that Gen-Z accounts for 26% of the total media audience. This new data has important implications for marketers, particularly those focusing on the online-to-offline journey: while device ownership is relatively similar between Gen-Z and Millennials, their interactions with brands are vastly different.
Millennials are more likely to make an online purchase, while Gen-Z, who prefers to develop deeper relationships with brands, will interact with a store digitally before heading to a brick-and-mortar. In fact, the study states that 40% of Gen-Z shoppers will use Snapchat in-store. Are you sensing a tectonic retail shift? Yeah, we are too.
When Foursquare and Snap Partner, Geofilters Take Over!
Is it just us, or is Snapchat just always in the news? The latest out of Spiegel’s world of puppy filters and maps is its impact on the use of Geofilters for businesses. The partnership between Foursquare has allowed Snapchat to have access to specific location data of businesses all around the world, giving opportunities for small local businesses (like, say, a convenience store) to implement a custom Geofilter, perhaps even custom-made by a brand ambassador. Although Snapchat’s user base has only grown by 7% since its IPO in February, Geofilter viewing (which was at a cool 1-billion daily views at the time of IPO), has nearly doubled.
