Apple Maps is a web mapping service developed by Apple Inc to compete with Google Maps and it is the default map system of iOS, macOS, and watchOS since its launching in 2012. It provides directions and estimated times of arrival for automobile, pedestrian, and public transportation navigation. The app also offers indoor maps, turn-by-turn spoken directions, interactive 3D views and proactive suggestions.

Slowly but surely, it’s been gaining popularity amongst users that were once loyal to the Google option. Their proactive suggestions predict the places an user is most likely to go and recommends the fastest way to get there based on traffic, time of day, user’s location and their schedule (as it’s connected to Apple iCalendar).

Another cool feature that’s interesting for retailers and multi-location businesses is their Indoor Maps feature as it allows users to find locations inside shopping malls, airports and even department stores.

Apple Maps is connected to Siri, Apple’s voice assistant and has a lot of interesting third party integrations that make it easier and more compelling to use for the more than 700 million iPhones that are currently in use around the world.
